
Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have apprehended a woman, Khadija Aliyu, for stealing a 7-day-old baby girl during a naming ceremony in Keffi.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the incident, stating that the crime took place on Saturday, September 28, 2024, behind the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The suspect, Khadija Aliyu, who had allegedly been pretending to be pregnant, was arrested by police officers attached to the Keffi Division of the Police Force.
According to the police, during the naming ceremony, Aliyu sneaked into the house, took the baby, covered the child with a veil, and fled the scene. She was later apprehended.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, has commended the prompt actions of the officers and urged the public to remain vigilant.
