Wale Edun, Nigeria's Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, attributed the closure of around 800 businesses in Nigeria in 2023 to the policies and economic conditions inherited from the previous administration led by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Edun made this statement during a ministerial press briefing in Abuja, clarifying that the challenges leading to these closures were not caused by the current administration under President Bola Tinubu.
He emphasized that issues such as market instability, unmet promises, and contract breaches, which compelled these companies to leave Nigeria, were longstanding problems from Buhari's presidency.
