The Federal Government has announced that Wednesday, June 12, will be a public holiday to celebrate this year’s Democracy Day.
RantHQ Blog reports that the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement issued on Tuesday by the ministry's Permanent Secretary, Dr. Aishetu Ndayako, congratulated Nigerians on the occasion.
The statement partly said, "As we celebrate another Democracy Day in our country's history, let us reflect on the efforts of our founding fathers and ensure that Nigeria remains united, secure, peaceful, and indivisible."
He encouraged Nigerians to stay committed to the principles of democratic governance.
Tunji-Ojo mentioned that President Bola Tinubu is dedicated to implementing reforms to revive the nation’s economy and improve security.
"The minister also urged Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to recognize the progress made and look forward to a brighter future for Nigeria’s democracy," the statement added.
