In a surprising development, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended Senator Dino Melaye, a prominent member from Kogi State, following allegations of anti-party activities.

The decision was reached by the party’s ward executive committee in Ayetoro/Iluagba Ward 1 after an investigation by a disciplinary committee into Melaye’s conduct.

The committee cited anti-party activities and misconduct as the reasons for the suspension.

A statement signed by Ward Chairman Abayomi Osamika and Ward Secretary Yodson Dayo emphasized that Melaye’s actions had caused embarrassment to the party, rendering his continued membership untenable.

The statement read, “Senator Dino Melaye’s conduct has brought embarrassment and disrepute to the party, and his continued membership is no longer tenable.”

The suspension, effective immediately, is in accordance with Article 59 (1) of the PDP constitution, which grants ward executives the authority to discipline erring members.
