RantHQ Blog understands that MultiChoice, the parent company of DStv and GOtv, has been ordered by a court to revert to its former subscription rates. This ruling follows a decision that the recent price hikes were unjustified.

Initially, MultiChoice raised prices to address inflation and the naira's devaluation. However, this increase reportedly resulted in a loss of over a million subscribers in Nigeria.

The revised rates are:

- DStv Premium: N29,500 (down from N37,000)

- DStv Compact+: N19,800 (down from N25,000)

- DStv Compact: N12,500 (down from N15,700)

- DStv Confam: N7,400 (down from N9,300)

- DStv Yanga: N4,200 (down from N5,100)

- DStv Padi: N2,950 (down from N3,600)

For GOtv, the new prices are:

- GOtv Super+: N12,500 (down from N15,700)

- GOtv Super: N7,600 (down from N9,600)

- GOtv Max: N5,700

- GOtv Joli: N3,950

- GOtv Jinja: N2,700 (down from N3,300)

It is unclear whether MultiChoice will comply with the court’s order to offer a month of free subscription. The company intends to challenge the ruling, arguing that it threatens their business model.
