Super Eagles head coach Finidi George has urged his team to put the disappointing draw against South Africa behind them and focus on the upcoming match against Benin Republic.
Nigeria came from behind to settle for a held to a 1-1 draw in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matchday three encounters in Uyo, a result that extends their winless run in the qualifiers.
Finidi's side trails in fifth position on the Group C log, with three consecutive draws.
Finidi after the game, acknowledged a slow start to the game but reference his side's second half performance.
"We started sloppily in the first half, but we took over the game immediately after the break and scored." He told the media.
The former Enyimba coach praised his players' reaction in the second half but expressed disappointment with the outcome.
"We missed chances, and it wasn't the best result we wanted. We have to get our heads up and work for the next game (Benin Republic). I am not happy about the point."
The Super Eagles will face Benin Republic at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on Monday, a match Finidi's team will be eager to win to revive their qualifying campaign.
