In a highly anticipated clash, table toppers Remo Stars faced reigning champions Rangers International in the Nigeria Premier Football League on Sunday. Both teams entered the match with impressive records, having not conceded a goal this season. However, it was Remo Stars who emerged victorious with a 2-1 win during their matchday four encounter in Ikenne.The first half was a tense affair, with both sides unable to break the deadlock. However, the match sparked to life in the second half. Just six minutes after the restart, Alex Oyowah combined skillfully with Franck Mawuema to score the opening goal for Remo Stars in the 51st minute. The lead was short-lived, though, as Rangers equalized just four minutes later. Kenechukwu Agu converted a penalty in the 55th minute after Remo goalkeeper Serge Obassa fouled a Rangers player in the box.Despite the setback, Remo Stars regained their composure, with Oyowah playing a pivotal role once again. In the 60th minute, he assisted Tochukwu Michael, who unleashed a powerful shot that found the back of the net, securing Remo’s fourth consecutive win and maintaining their perfect record at the top of the table with 12 points.Meanwhile, the much-anticipated meeting between coaching rivals Finidi George and Yemi Olanrewaju ended in favor of George, as his side, Rivers United, defeated former champions Enyimba 2-0 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt. Ubong Friday opened the scoring with a stunning volley just 17 minutes into the match, and Seiyefa Jakson sealed the victory with a late goal, lifting Rivers United to second place on the table with 10 points after four games.In other matches, Abia Warriors achieved their first victory of the season under coach Imama Amapakabo, defeating Kano Pillars 2-0 in Umuahia. Meanwhile, in Katsina, Azeez Falolu was instrumental for Katsina United, scoring a penalty and assisting another goal in a commanding 3-0 win over Lobi Stars at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium. Nazifi Yahaya and Taofeek Ahmed also found the net for Katsina.Lastly, reigning President Federation Cup champions El-Kanemi Warriors played their first home game of the season but had to fight back from two goals down to earn a draw against Plateau United.
