World Bank Will Investigate Obaseki For The Fraud He Was Doing With Their Money – Oshiomhole
Adams Oshiomhole, the former governor of Edo State, has called for an investigation into the alleged misuse of a $75 million World Bank fund by the current governor, Godwin Obaseki. Oshiomhole claimed that the funds, intended for the Edo Basic Education Sector Transformation (EdoBEST) program, were mismanaged, leading to poor conditions in schools, including a lack of teachers. He made these comments during the presentation of a Certificate of Return to Edo's governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo of the APC, who is set to replace Obaseki after his term ends in November 2024.
Oshiomhole expressed hope that Okpebholo would restore integrity and improve education, among other sectors, in the state. Meanwhile, the Edo State government has yet to respond to these allegations【7†source】【8†source】.
