In a recent court ruling, prominent social media activist Martins Otse, widely known as "VeryDarkMan," has been granted bail set at N2 million by a Chief Magistrate Court in Abuja.
The bail comes with rigorous conditions following his arraignment for allegedly impersonating a police officer and using police uniforms in a viral social media video.
VeryDarkMan appeared before Chief Magistrate Court 1, Wuse Zone 6, on Friday, November 1, facing charges under case number CR/510/2024 brought forward by the Commissioner of Police.
The court's decision included demanding compliance with stringent bail conditions, including the need for two sureties on similar terms.
The sureties, required to reside within Abuja municipal jurisdiction, must submit their passports to the court, present valid identification, and provide utility bills.
Additionally, they must depose an affidavit guaranteeing the defendant's availability during trial proceedings.
The prosecutor is also tasked with verifying the sureties' addresses to ensure compliance with court requirements.
As part of his release conditions, VeryDarkMan himself must provide an affidavit pledging his commitment to attending all future court sessions.
