The Super Eagles of Nigeria experienced a challenging ordeal during their trip to Libya for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The team, along with top officials, was redirected to Al-Abraq International Airport instead of Benghazi, despite having all the necessary clearances to land there. The pilot reported that Libyan authorities ignored his concerns about being low on fuel and forced the plane to land at Al-Abraq, a poorly equipped domestic airport lacking essential landing systems. The Nigerian delegation was then held at the airport for over 16 hours, leading to their return to Nigeria as CAF investigates the incident.
