The Nigerian Minister of Sports Development, John Enoh, has condemned the treatment of the Super Eagles during their recent stay in Libya for their 2025 AFCON qualifier against the Mediterranean Knights. Enoh accused the Libyan Football Federation of deliberately subjecting the Nigerian players and officials to inhumane conditions, including being stranded at the airport without food or internet access for several hours. This situation sparked outrage and required diplomatic efforts and social media outcry to resolve.
Enoh rejected claims from the Libyan side that they faced poor treatment in Nigeria during their first encounter, stressing that the conditions in Port Harcourt, where the Libyan team had landed, were far from the alleged mistreatment. The minister also criticized the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for not acting swiftly, stating that the NFF President was denied proper communication during the ordeal. Enoh raised concerns about Libya's suitability to host international matches in such an environment.
