Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi, has opened up about the challenges he faced before rising to fame as one of Nigeria's celebrated artists.
The ‘Oscroh’ hitmaker shared his journey of financial hardship, revealing how he took on various odd jobs to support his family.
According to Shallipopi, he worked as a bricklayer, painter, and plasterer in Benin City to help his mother and keep the household afloat.
Reflecting on his early music career, the singer recounted performing at local clubs in Benin for as little as N5,000, using the money to support his family.
He revealed this in a post on X (formerly Twitter), where he urged fans to embrace resilience despite the country's economic challenges.
“I have been to the 36 states of Nigeria touring towns to eat. I don’t know which part of Nigeria you come from, but you shouldn’t talk to me about shame. Buckle up; this country doesn’t laugh with anybody! Period!!!" he wrote.
Shallipopi's story highlights his determination to succeed against the odds, reminding his fans that financial stability often requires perseverance and sacrifice.
