Popular Nigerian musician Phyno has sparked conversations on social media after revealing his personal approach to supporting those around him.
In a recent statement, the artist advised people to offer real help rather than simply urging others to "work harder."
He illustrated his perspective by sharing a heartfelt story about his housemaid, whom he recently sent to the UK to pursue a better life.
"Help people if you can and stop telling them to work harder," Phyno said. "Not every broke person is lazy. My housemaid works harder than me; she cleans and does everything, but her money can’t be compared to mine. I noticed she might never build a house with that amount, so I had to send her to the UK to hustle. The grace is different, help people when you can."
Phyno’s words have stirred discussions on the complex realities of wealth, privilege, and the importance of recognizing hard work in various forms.
He stressed that circumstances, not just effort, often play a role in financial success, pointing out that his housemaid’s dedication did not translate to the same financial rewards he enjoys.
By using his platform to highlight these disparities, Phyno calls for more empathy and tangible support for those striving to make a living, suggesting that sometimes, providing real assistance is more impactful than advising someone to simply "work harder."
