Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex from the United Kingdom, arrived Nigeria today May 10 and speak to Nigerian students about the importance of openly discussing mental health to combat stigma.
During his visit to Abuja, he emphasized this message while promoting the Invictus Games, an event he initiated for wounded military veterans.
Alongside his wife Meghan Markle, they visited the Lightway Academy in Abuja, where they were warmly welcomed by students.
Prince Harry, adorned with a traditional Nigerian bead necklace, encouraged students to address mental health issues openly, stating that it affects everyone.
Meghan also joined him on stage, and they later met with Nigerian military leaders as part of the Invictus program.
A student, Nnena Edeh, expressed her excitement about the visit, describing it as inspiring.
Previously, Prince Harry had marked the 10th anniversary of the games in London. His trips to the UK often spark speculation about a possible reconciliation with his family.
Founded in 2014 by Prince Harry, Invictus has expanded its reach, promoting rehabilitation through sports.
Last year, a former Nigerian soldier, Peacemaker Azuegbulam, made history by winning a gold medal at the games in Germany.
Prince Harry is set to participate in a sporting event in Abuja and will also visit a military hospital in Kaduna to meet with troops injured in combat.
Later, he will travel to Lagos, Nigeria's economic capital.
