INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has committed to addressing key logistical and result management issues ahead of the November 16 gubernatorial election in Ondo State. During a recent assessment in Akure, Yakubu highlighted that previous elections, including recent ones in other states, offered valuable lessons for improving election processes. INEC aims to ensure prompt opening of polling units and faster, more transparent result management this time.
In preparation, INEC has planned a series of stakeholder engagements involving political parties, civil society groups, and security agencies. Additionally, they will conduct mock voter accreditation in selected polling units to test readiness. A peace accord signing is also scheduled to promote a peaceful election environment.
