In a tragic turn of events, the Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the abduction and murder of Mrs. Felicia Namkywa, a petty trader from Obi Local Government Area (LGA). The suspects, both male and residents of Shember community in Agwatashi village, were detained after a police investigation linked them to the gruesome crime.
According to DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the investigation began after Mrs. Namkywa was reported missing for several days. Despite efforts by her family and community to locate her, all attempts proved unsuccessful, prompting them to lodge a complaint at the Obi Police Division.
Police detectives acted swiftly, gathering intelligence that led to the identification of the suspects. One of the suspects, who owed the victim ₦40,000, used this debt as a trap. He lured Mrs. Namkywa into a remote area under the pretense of selling grains, a business opportunity that tragically ended in her kidnapping and murder.
The suspects confessed to their heinous crime during interrogation. They revealed that after luring the victim, they took her deep into a forest, where she was strangled and left in a swamp. In addition to taking her life, they also stole ₦555,000 from her.
The suspects later led the police to the crime scene, where Mrs. Namkywa’s decayed remains were recovered. This discovery brought a tragic end to the search for the missing woman, but it also provided closure for her family and the community.
The Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, Umar Nadada, has directed a swift and thorough investigation. The Deputy Commissioner in charge of criminal investigation has been tasked with concluding the case as quickly as possible to ensure that the suspects are brought to justice.
In his statement, DSP Nansel expressed condolences to the family of Mrs. Namkywa and assured them that justice will be served. The suspects are expected to face prosecution in court soon, as the police work to ensure that the full weight of the law is applied.
This tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the Obi community and beyond. Mrs. Namkywa’s murder serves as a painful reminder of the need for vigilance and caution in daily interactions. The community now mourns the loss of a hard working trader who was deceived and betrayed by those she likely trusted.
As the investigation progresses, the Nasarawa Police Command remains committed to ensuring that all individuals involved in this crime are held accountable. Justice for Mrs. Namkywa is on the horizon, bringing some solace to her grieving family.
The swift action by the Nasarawa State Police Command in arresting the suspects responsible for Mrs. Namkywa’s abduction and murder reflects the importance of community cooperation in tackling crime. While her death is a tragic loss, the promise of justice offers hope to her loved ones that those responsible will face the consequences of their actions.
