Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, known as Mr. P and formerly part of the iconic Afrobeat duo P-Square, has reacted to a viral video of a French band performing P-Square’s hit song Testimony (Taste the Money) during a state dinner at the Palais de l’Élysée in Paris.
The performance was part of President Bola Tinubu’s three-day state visit to France, aimed at bolstering diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.
The event, attended by dignitaries including First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, featured a unique Afrobeat interpretation with a French twist, earning widespread applause from the audience.
Taking to Instagram on Friday, Peter shared the video, adding a lighthearted caption: “Enjoy your weekend! 🫣 #TasteTheMoney.”
The moment of cultural exchange drew attention not only for its celebratory tone but also amidst ongoing tensions between Peter and his brother, Paul Okoye, known as Rudeboy.
The brothers, whose collaboration as P-Square defined an era of Afrobeat music, have been embroiled in disputes since their split.
Recently, Paul accused Peter of appropriating a song titled Winning, which was allegedly intended for his upcoming album.
According to producer Vampire Craze, the track was created in 2022 during P-Square’s brief reunion.
Despite their differences, fans continue to hope for reconciliation, cherishing the legacy of P-Square, whose hits remain a global symbol of Afrobeat excellence.
