In a candid interview on the ‘Glasshouse Show’ with comedian AY, popular Nigerian actress and filmmaker Omoni Oboli shared her experience of losing a movie role due to her refusal to kiss a director during an audition.
Oboli recounted the incident that took place shortly after her return to Nigeria from abroad, where she had taken a break to raise her children.
“One director asked me to kiss him at an audition, and I couldn’t understand why he would do that,” she explained.
When the director insisted, saying, “I just want to see,” she firmly declined, stating, “Sorry, I can’t do it because I didn’t see any reason I would be kissing you, the director, when we are not on set.”
Her refusal ultimately cost her the role, and she returned home empty-handed, saying, “Guess what? I didn’t get the role that I traveled for, and I ended up traveling back without playing the role.”
