In a remarkable stride toward improving the quality of life for his constituents, the Chairman of Oluyole Local Government Area, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, has successfully restored electricity to over 15 communities, including the Oluyole Council Secretariat. This development marks the end of a decade-long blackout that had paralyzed business activities and disrupted daily life for thousands of residents.
For more than ten years, the affected communities were plunged into darkness, relying on generators as a costly and unsustainable alternative. Businesses were forced to relocate to neighboring local governments, leaving the area economically stagnant. The prolonged power outage also impacted the Council Secretariat, where operations were severely hindered by the lack of reliable electricity.
The restoration of electricity is seen as a significant achievement of the Olatunji-led administration, especially given the short time frame within which the project was completed. Speaking on this milestone, Mrs. Adekola, the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) chairperson in Oluyole, expressed her deep gratitude. She lauded the local government's commitment to enhancing the welfare of the people and advancing grassroots development.
Engr. Akeem Olatunji, in his remarks, appreciated the patience and resilience of the residents and local government staff during the years of blackout. He emphasized that the successful restoration of power is a collective achievement, reflecting the unity and determination of the Oluyole community.
"This success belongs to every one of you," said Olatunji. "It’s a testament to what we can achieve when we work together as a team towards the development of our local government."
He further assured that Oluyole local government is fully aligned with the vision of Governor Seyi Makinde, which focuses on creating an enabling environment to accelerate sustainable economic growth at the grassroots level.
The return of electricity to these communities is expected to revive economic activities, attract new businesses, and improve the overall quality of life. This milestone not only restores power but also restores hope for a brighter future in Oluyole Local Government Area.
