The National Orientation Agency (NOA), in collaboration with Malam Abubakar Abdul Buba, popularly known as Cashier and the House of Representatives member for Chanchaga Federal Constituency in Niger State, recently held a powerful one-day sensitization program in Minna aimed at raising awareness against social vices. Hosted at the Dogon Koli Hotel, the event gathered representatives from the Chanchaga Federal Constituency who were encouraged to act as ambassadors to spread the message within their communities.
The NOA’s Director General, Malam Issa Onilu, represented by Mrs. Theresa Maduekwe, the Director of Public Enlightenment and Mass Mobilisation, emphasized the agency’s commitment to educating citizens on the dangers posed by social vices. This campaign is part of our ongoing efforts to reorient citizens to reject social vices and instead uphold values that promote peace and development, said Issa Onilu. He identified several pressing issues, including drug abuse, banditry, gender based violence, human trafficking, ritual killings, extremism, and cybercrime, noting that such vices are prevalent across many communities, including Chanchaga.
He also introduced the agency’s CLHEEAN thematic intervention program, designed to provide a coordinated approach to tackling social vices and promoting a safer society.
Hon. Abdull Buba addressed the gathering, reinforcing his commitment to addressing social issues within Chanchaga. This initiative is meant to educate and empower my constituents, he stated. We aim to address and correct societal ills while fostering values, principles, and ideologies that positively shape individuals and communities.
The campaign is part of Buba’s broader commitment to the well being of Chanchaga’s citizens, especially its youth, encouraging them to embrace behaviors that align with peace and progress.
Also present was Malam Yahaya Gbogbo, the NOA State Director for Niger, who praised the lawmaker for his dedication to correcting social challenges in Chanchaga. The campaign aligns perfectly with NOA’s mission to reshape citizens' mindsets, fostering patriotism and respect for laws and regulations, he said. Gbogbo promised that NOA would take this message to the grassroots, working closely with Buba to create a sustained impact across the constituency.
Alongside the awareness campaign, sixty women from Chanchaga Federal Constituency received empowerment support from the lawmaker, showcasing his commitment to improving his constituents' livelihoods and addressing the roots of social challenges.
This initiative reflects a united effort to promote values that counteract the forces driving social vices, creating a community that values peace, unity, and development. Through collaboration between NOA, local leaders, and community members, Chanchaga is working toward a future free from the grip of harmful social behaviors, inspiring similar movements across other constituencies.
