The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has clarified that Nigeria has not granted permission for the establishment of any foreign military base, including by France, on its soil. This clarification comes in response to rumors sparked by President Bola Tinubu's recent visit to France, during which bilateral agreements on trade, culture, and economic cooperation were signed.
During the unveiling of the Armed Forces of Nigeria 2025 Tattoo Logo at Defence Headquarters in Abuja, General Musa emphasized that President Tinubu prioritizes the protection of Nigeria's sovereignty and would not permit foreign military bases in the country. He noted that while Nigeria engages in bilateral military training and cooperation, hosting foreign bases is not part of the administration's plans.
