In a tragic incident, Chikwado Eze, a young Nigerian man who recently obtained a visa to travel abroad, lost his life during a ritual meant to fortify him for success in his journey.
Chikwado, excited about his prospects, traveled to his hometown in Ugbaike, Igbo-Eze North LGA, Enugu State, to inform his father of his plans.
His father, believing in traditional spiritual protections, suggested that they visit a native doctor known as Onuwa for fortification.
Onuwa recommended a disturbing ritual that involved burying Chikwado alive for an hour and thirty minutes as part of the spiritual process.
Tragically, when the time elapsed and Chikwado was exhumed, he was found dead.
Local authorities have been informed, leading to the arrest of both Onuwa, the native doctor, and Mr. Uwakwe, Chikwado’s father.
The incident has shocked the community, raising questions about the dangerous reliance on traditional rituals and the conflict between cultural beliefs and modern safety.
The tragic death of Chikwado, who had been full of hope and excitement for his future abroad, has left the community in mourning.
