President Bola Tinubu has departed Abuja for a two-week vacation in the United Kingdom, which is part of his annual leave. He left the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. During his vacation, Tinubu will reportedly use the time as a working retreat to reflect on his administration’s economic reforms. He is expected to return to Nigeria after the leave.
In related news, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume from Borno South has urged President Tinubu to consider hiring military contractors to help eliminate Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State. This call follows a recent Boko Haram attack in Ngoshe, Gwoza Local Government Area, where six farmers were killed, and five others, including women, were abducted. Ndume commended the efforts of the military and Civilian JTF but noted that they are under-equipped to fully eliminate the insurgent threat. He also suggested that the contractors could be used to fight bandits in the North West.
