The World Trade Organization (WTO) has officially reappointed Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as its director-general for a second term.
According to an announcement made on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, her second term will commence on September 1, 2025.
Okonjo-Iweala, who assumed office on March 1, 2021, made history as the first woman and the first African to lead the global trade body.
A former Minister of Finance in Nigeria, she has been widely recognized for her reformist approach and leadership in international trade and development.
Her reappointment underscores the global confidence in her leadership and the impact of her reforms during her first tenure.
