The inter-denominational church service held at the National Christian Centre in Abuja marked the start of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary celebrations. Key figures in attendance included former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, among other dignitaries.
During the service, Akume expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future under President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing a vision of prosperity and success for the country. He urged Nigerians to hold onto hope, believing that the nation could become the most successful in Africa and globally.
Similarly, the Archbishop of Abuja, Most Rev. Michael Akinwale, delivered a sermon that highlighted hope and unity, sharing his dream of Nigeria reclaiming its global leadership and becoming a hub of industrialization in Africa.
Senate President Akpabio also called for patience and resilience, asserting that despite challenges, Nigeria’s path to prosperity was just beginning and the nation's best days lie ahead.
