Tragedy has struck the Federal Capital Territory as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Musa Yakubu, attached to the Yaba Divisional Police Headquarters in the Abaji Area Council, was found dead in his apartment on Wednesday morning.
Sources within the police department, who requested anonymity, revealed that the officer was in good health until his unexpected death.
“We were together with him at the division until late on Tuesday night. When he did not report for duty on Wednesday, we went to his house and discovered his lifeless body inside his bedroom,” the source disclosed.
A native of Gwargwada in Kuje Area Council, ASP Yakubu had recently been promoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) by the Police Service Commission.
His passing comes just a month after he lost his father, prompting him to travel to Gwargwada for the burial before returning to his post at the Yaba division.
The death of ASP Yakubu was confirmed by HRH Alhaji Hussain Agabi Man, the Agabe of Gwargwada, who expressed sorrow over the officer’s untimely demise.
Additionally, SP Adeh Josephine, spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, corroborated the information, stating that the officer had been suffering from a protracted illness.
The police community and the local population mourn the loss of a dedicated officer who had served his community with distinction.
