Mrs. Oluwatoyin Nwadike, the newly inaugurated Pioneer Chairman of the Oluyole and District Society of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), has vowed to create a supportive and inclusive environment where all members can thrive and excel in their profession. Speaking after her swearing-in ceremony, Nwadike laid out her vision for the new district, describing it as a vibrant, dynamic, and innovative hub where members can collaborate, grow, and uplift one another.
Nwadike emphasized that the Oluyole and District Society will serve as a community where members can support one another and enhance their professional growth. She highlighted her commitment to fostering an environment where every member feels valued and empowered, with access to continuous learning opportunities such as workshops and seminars. These initiatives aim to keep members updated in their careers and help them build their Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) points at minimal or no cost.
As we chart our course forward, our priorities will be clear and focused. We are going to create an inclusive and supportive environment where every member feels valued and empowered to reach their full potential, Nwadike stated.
Nwadike noted the symbolic significance of the district’s inauguration coinciding with Nigeria’s Independence Day, calling it a day divinely orchestrated by God. She reflected on the challenging yet rewarding process of establishing the new district society in Ibadan, marking it as a new chapter for ICAN in the region.
In his welcome address, the 60th ICAN President, Chief Davison Alaribe, commended the new chairman and urged her to focus on recruiting and nurturing young talent to expand the district’s membership. He emphasized the importance of growing the district’s influence and inducting new members into the ICAN family.
Dr. Olawale Dopemu, Chairman of the Inauguration Committee, expressed pride in the establishment of the Oluyole District, calling it a significant milestone for ICAN. He described the new district as a testament to the growth and dynamism of the Institute, furthering its commitment to fostering excellence, professionalism, and ethical standards in the accounting profession.
This new district is not just a testament to the growth and dynamism of our esteemed Institute, but also a clear indication of our commitment to fostering excellence, professionalism, and ethical standards in the accounting profession, Dopemu said. He added that the creation of this district will bring ICAN’s services closer to its members in the region, providing more opportunities for professional development.
In his closing remarks, Soetan, the Chairman of the Day, urged Nwadike and her executive team to work together diligently to elevate the district and ICAN as a whole. He encouraged them to maintain a strong relationship with their mother district to ensure the continued growth and success of the organization.
You must work hand in hand together with your mother district in order to move ICAN to greater heights, Soetan advised.
The inauguration of the Oluyole and District Society marks a new beginning for ICAN in the Ibadan region. With Mrs. Oluwatoyin Nwadike at the helm, the district is poised to become a hub of innovation, professional development, and collaboration. Through her leadership, the district aims to empower its members, providing them with the tools and support they need to succeed in the accounting profession.
