Global streaming platform Netflix has dismissed claims that it is exiting Nigeria, assuring stakeholders of its continued support for the country’s creative industry.
The denial follows widespread reports alleging that Netflix had ceased operations in Nigeria due to economic challenges and low patronage.
However, in a statement to TechCabal, the company clarified its stance, stating, “We are not exiting Nigeria. We will continue to invest in the country’s stories to delight our members.”
Since its launch in Nigeria in 2016, Netflix has significantly contributed to showcasing local content on a global scale.
The platform has supported numerous Nigerian productions, helping to amplify the country’s rich storytelling culture to a worldwide audience.
This announcement reinforces Netflix’s commitment to Nigeria’s entertainment sector, highlighting its intention to remain a key player in fostering the industry’s growth.
