Senator Ali Ndume has urged President Bola Tinubu to continue reshaping his cabinet by dismissing more underperforming ministers. While acknowledging the president's recent ministerial changes, including the replacement of five ministers, reassignment of ten, and creation of the Ministry of Regional Development, Ndume emphasized that some ministers are still not meeting expectations.
He also called for a national economic summit to address Nigeria's economic issues, recommending respected Nigerian economists like Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Oby Ezekwesili, Akinwumi Adesina, Mansur Muktar, Arunma Oteh, and Tope Fasua to lead the summit. Ndume believes that home-grown solutions are preferable to relying on international bodies like the IMF and World Bank, which often suggest measures he feels burden the average Nigerian.
Ndume praised Tinubu’s steps to reduce governance costs and encouraged other government branches to adopt similar measures. He expressed confidence that a summit driven by Nigerian experts could offer a sustainable path forward for Nigeria’s economy.
