Minister of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, has stood her ground amidst the ongoing controversy surrounding her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate.
In a recent appearance on Television for an interview, Musawa maintained her innocence, asserting that she fulfilled her NYSC obligations and dismissing the various speculations surrounding the matter.
The scandal erupted after Musawa, previously an Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Culture and Entertainment, was accused of failing to provide proof of her mandatory NYSC participation during her Senate screening.
The controversy has continued to draw scrutiny from both the media and the public.
Musawa, however, refused to delve into the details of the allegations, stating, "There have been so many different accounts of that particular situation. The fact that I am sitting here means that I didn’t do anything wrong." She added that while she has not yet set the record straight, she intends to share her full account in the future.
In her defense, the minister claimed to have participated in the NYSC twice, emphasizing her compliance with the law. "The NYSC I did and finished.
Everything I did was by the law," she declared, noting that while social media continues to circulate different versions of the story, she remains focused on her ministerial duties.
Despite the pressure to clarify whether she returned to complete the youth service while in office, Musawa chose not to confirm this, leaving the public to anticipate her eventual explanation. "One day, I will come out with my account of what happened to set the record straight," she stated.
For now, the minister is prioritizing delivering results for Nigerians, steadfast in her claim of innocence amidst the swirling controversy.
