The Lagos branch of the Middle Belt Youths has endorsed Seyi Tinubu, urging him to contest for the governorship of Lagos State in 2027.
The group believes that Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is well-positioned to continue his father’s legacy of inclusivity and development in Lagos.
During a press conference held on Thursday at the Eko Hotel, Dr. Stanley Augustine Kavwam, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Middle Belt Forum, and Capt.
Brent Kane, National Youth Leader of the Forum, expressed their confidence in Seyi Tinubu's leadership qualities.
“Seyi Tinubu is a detribalized individual, just like his father. He has empowered people from all tribes, both within and outside Lagos. We strongly believe he is capable of taking Lagos to greater heights,” the leaders stated.
The group emphasized that Lagos, a melting pot of various ethnicities and religions, requires a leader who can bridge divides and foster unity.
They highlighted Seyi Tinubu’s track record of promoting inclusivity and fairness.
“Who else will the people of Lagos support if Seyi Tinubu accepts to run? He knows no tribe, no religion, and no gender. He believes in all people, irrespective of their background,” the group said.
They further noted that individuals from the Middle Belt often face challenges in multi-ethnic states like Lagos.
According to them, Seyi Tinubu’s leadership would ensure that their interests, as well as those of other minority groups, are protected.
The endorsement adds a significant dimension to the evolving political landscape in Lagos ahead of the 2027 elections.
