Manchester United Sack Erik Ten Hag, Appoint Ruud Van Nistelrooy as Interim Manager
English Premier League club Manchester United has sacked Dutch head coach Erik Ten Hag following a recent 2-1 defeat to West Ham United, according to reports from RantHQ Blog.
In an official statement, Manchester United thanked Ten Hag for his contributions and announced that former United striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy would step in as interim head coach.
Van Nistelrooy will work with the current coaching staff until the club finds a permanent replacement.
"Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager. We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future," the statement read.
"Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited."
Ten Hag joined United with high expectations but struggled to deliver consistent performances.
Despite narrowly avoiding termination over the summer, the new ownership under Sir Jim Ratcliffe opted to keep him on, even extending his contract by a year.
However, the latest defeat ultimately proved decisive in the club’s decision to part ways.
