A man has publicly confessed to placing a curse on his nephew out of jealousy, an act that led to the young man’s continued struggle with unemployment.
The remorseful individual shared his regret on Facebook, expressing deep contrition for his actions, which he now wishes to reverse.
The man explained that the catalyst for his jealousy was the academic achievements of both his daughter and his brother’s son.
While his daughter was forced to withdraw from university after falling pregnant, his nephew continued his studies and graduated.
Feeling envious of his nephew’s success, the man sought the help of a herbalist, or "sangoma," to cast a spell that would prevent his nephew from finding a job after graduation.
In a heartfelt post, the man shared the details of his regret: "In 2021, my brother’s son was finishing his final year at university, while my daughter had to drop out due to pregnancy. I went to a sangoma to block my nephew from getting a job. I was just jealous that he would be more successful than my daughter."
Despite his wishes, the spell appears to have worked, and the young man has struggled to find employment since graduation.
The man, who has since turned his life around and become a devout churchgoer, said he has been praying for God to reverse the curse but has seen no results.
He emphasized his desire to make amends, stating, “I regret what I did in 2021. I have been praying hard for God to reverse it, but it’s not working. I can’t go back to the sangoma because I don’t associate with evil spirits anymore."
Now seeking guidance on how to fix the situation, the man revealed that his daughter works at a local shop owned by a Pakistani, while his nephew continues to search for work.
His confession has sparked conversations about the consequences of envy and the power of remorse, as well as the difficulty in undoing the harm caused by actions born from jealousy.
