
Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has proposed a budget of N549.16 billion for the 2025 fiscal year, which he presented to the state assembly. The budget highlights include a capital expenditure of N312.63 billion and a recurrent expenditure of N236.52 billion, giving a 57:43 capital-to-recurrent spending ratio aimed at long-term investments.
Key allocations include:
Education: N168.35 billion (31%) to improve schools, training, and infrastructure.
Health: N90.60 billion (16.5%) for healthcare improvements.
Agriculture: N21.04 billion (3.83%) to support food production and local farmers.
Infrastructure: N70.68 billion (12.87%) for roads, water systems, and public facilities.
Manufacturing, Commerce, Industry, and Tourism: N3.89 billion (1.22%).
Environment and Sanitation: N15.52 billion (2.83%) to address waste management and pollution.
Governance Institutions: N98.24 billion (17.57%).
This proposed budget reflects a focus on social and economic development, particularly in education and healthcare, which the governor emphasized as critical for Kano's growth.
