The All Progressives Congress (APC) has publicly criticized 51 anti-corruption organizations for sponsoring a petition against its national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje. The APC, through a statement by Chief Oliver Okpala, senior special assistant on public enlightenment, condemned the petition as politically driven and unfounded.
The petition, endorsed by Dr. Johnson Nebechi and Comrade Umar Ideresu of the National Anti-Corruption Alliance (NACA), raises allegations against Ganduje. However, Okpala argues that these claims are desperate attempts to defame Ganduje and disregard ongoing court cases involving similar accusations filed by the Kano state government. Okpala also labeled the petitioners as "unschooled and unscrupulous" and emphasized that their issues are "sub judice," implying they should not be discussed outside the court's purview.
The APC further questioned the legitimacy of the petitioners, calling their organization unlawful, lacking state or federal registration. The party warned the groups to reconsider their actions to avoid legal consequences, stressing that the allegations lack legal and evidential support.
