David Hundeyin, a Nigerian investigative journalist, recently described being declared wanted by Nigerian security authorities as part of the cost of his commitment to truth, particularly when that truth challenges prevailing narratives. Hundeyin's situation, he suggests, might be even more perilous than merely being declared wanted. According to him, there have been multiple attempts to render him stateless in the past.Speaking on News Central TV, Hundeyin addressed the latest development: the Nigerian police have announced they are tracking him and his alleged accomplice, Michael Temidayo Alade, for supposedly leaking classified documents, an accusation they say violates the Official Secrets Act. The police also revealed that the two are connected to Bristol Isaac, also known as PIDOMNigeria on X, who was recently arrested by the Nigerian Police National Cybercrime Centre.Despite the pressure, Hundeyin remained resolute during his television interview. He recounted a recent high-level attempt by the National Intelligence Agency to abduct him from abroad. "I’m fine, I’m perfectly fine," Hundeyin stated. "This isn’t the first time the Nigerian state has come after me. As recently as last year, there was a significant attempt by the National Intelligence Agency to illegally abduct me from a foreign country."Hundeyin revealed that he has had to change countries twice in the past year alone. When an attempt was made to abduct him from Ghana, he fled to Kenya, only to face further attempts to make him stateless there. Consequently, he had to move to the UK. "This is part of the course," Hundeyin reflected. "This is the price you have to pay when you decide to tell the truth, especially when it’s not fashionable and when it’s seen as a threat by those in power."
