Nigerian music star Tiwa Savage has opened up about the aftermath of her leaked video, describing how it transformed her career and life.
In a candid statement, the award-winning singer admitted she was initially devastated when the private footage went viral.
"I was really heartbroken the moment my video went viral as I wondered how my son would feel when he grows up and finds it," she shared.
Despite the emotional toll, Tiwa revealed that the incident unexpectedly turned into a career boost. She received support and encouragement from international stars, including Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland.
"Beyoncé called me and was just laughing, even Kelly Rowland was like, 'Hey babe, you are so hot,'" she recounted.
The publicity surrounding the video also spiked interest in her music. "The leaked video boosted my streams for my songs as everyone wanted to see me. As an entertainer, I took advantage to show them more or less," she said.
However, Tiwa noted that she made deliberate decisions to maintain her dignity. “I got so many calls from top stars who told me this is a huge blessing in disguise, but I rejected some opportunities,” she stated.
She also invested heavily in scrubbing the footage from the internet, ensuring her peace of mind. "I have invested a lot to remove videos from the internet, and my mind is at rest now," she concluded.
Tiwa’s resilience and ability to turn adversity into opportunity have further cemented her status as one of Africa’s most celebrated entertainers.
