In a recent statement, former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, likened the ongoing price war between Dangote Refinery and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to a "skit." Sani’s comment came in response to the Federal Government's decision to remain neutral in the face-off over petrol pump prices between the two major players in Nigeria’s petroleum industry. On Wednesday, the Federal Government announced its intention not to intervene in the pricing dispute. Bayo Onanuga, a spokesman for President Bola Tinubu, explained that both Dangote Refinery and NNPCL are free to set their own prices for consumers, as the market has been deregulated. This means that petroleum stakeholders are expected to operate in line with the principles of market forces, determining their prices based on supply, demand, and other economic factors.Shehu Sani, known for his sharp commentary on political and economic issues, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his view on the situation. He remarked, “Now that the FG will not intervene in the price war between Dangote and the NNPCL shows that ‘the war’ is a skit.”
