Nigerian rapper Ice Prince has clarified that he, not Davido, was the first African artist to receive a BET Award on stage at the main ceremony.
In a recent appearance on ‘Listening,’ Ice Prince explained that he made history in 2013 when he won the Best International Act, Africa award, an honor that was traditionally presented backstage to African artists before then.
“I was the first African artist to receive the award on stage in 2013, not Davido,” Ice Prince said, correcting the misconception that had been spread by fans over the years.
This revelation adds to the ongoing conversation about the growing recognition of African artists at global events like the BET Awards, which now showcase African talent more prominently on stage.
