"Chioma Chukwuka Promises to Uphold Family Values in Nollywood Career"
In an industry often characterized by its diverse range of roles and characters, Nollywood actress Chioma Chukwuka has made a strong commitment to her family and personal values.
Chukwuka recently shared her stance on rejecting indecent roles, attributing her decision to a promise she made to her mother to "be a good girl for the family."
Reflecting on her career journey, Chukwuka recalled that acting was not her initial dream; she had originally aspired to become a banker.
“I actually wanted to be a banker as that was my dream, but somehow I found myself acting,” she said, with a laugh, adding that her journey into acting is "a story for another day."
When her mother first saw her on television, she had mixed feelings. "Chioma, so this is what you want to become now? I will not stop you, but please remember whose daughter you are,” her mother advised. “I don’t want to see you do all those touchy-touchy things in the name of acting."
Chukwuka responded with a promise to her mother, vowing to steer clear of roles that might compromise the values she was raised with.
“I laughed and promised not to be what she imagined. I am proud to be her daughter,” she said, expressing pride in her choice to uphold her family’s values.
Chukwuka has stayed true to her word, proving that success in Nollywood can go hand-in-hand with staying rooted in one's principles.
