Bishop T.D. Jakes, the renowned pastor and leader of The Potter's House megachurch in Dallas, Texas, made a heartfelt statement from his sickbed following a recent health scare.
The 66-year-old spiritual leader, who collapsed during a live service last week and was rushed to the hospital, addressed his congregation and supporters with words of peace and faith.
“I am not afraid of death, even if it comes now, I will embrace it because I am at peace with the Lord,” Jakes shared. He reflected on his life of service, saying, “I have lived my whole life to His glory, I have won souls for Him through my ministry, and brought so many people to know His name.”
The bishop, who has long served as a beacon of strength for his global community, acknowledged the inevitability of life’s challenges.
Citing the Bible verse Ecclesiastes 3:1, he noted, “There is a time for everything, a time to live and a time to die.” He expressed gratitude for being at peace with his maker, saying, "The world will remember my name for good."
Despite the seriousness of his condition, Jakes found strength through his faith. "Serving God's people is an extraordinary privilege," he said. "Even when I sensed the weight of my humanity and pushed through nonetheless, I’m reminded that even the strongest must rely on His strength.”
He went on to thank God for sparing his life, sharing, "I give thanks unto the Lord that I did not have a stroke, however, the event could’ve been fatal if it weren’t for God’s intervention."
Jakes also expressed his appreciation for the medical professionals who responded swiftly to his emergency, highlighting their expertise and care.
The bishop, who has been a pillar of faith for many, took the time to reflect on the importance of rest and recovery.
"Rest is not a weakness – it is a divine gift," he said, emphasizing the need to honor the Sabbath and trust in God's timing for restoration.
As Jakes continues his recuperation, he shared his deep appreciation for his family, the church leadership team, and the global community that has shown love and support.
"God’s faithfulness was unmistakable to all those present," he said, acknowledging the outpouring of prayers and support.
“I will always give my best,” Jakes concluded, with a message of hope: "May His presence continue to guide and sustain you and provide peace and protection over you all."
