Tigran Gambaryan, an executive with Binance Holdings Limited, was recently released by Nigeria’s Federal Government after money laundering charges against him were dismissed. The U.S. promptly arranged for his return to the country for medical treatment. This dismissal came after the prosecution, led by R. U. Adagba, chose to withdraw the case against Gambaryan.
Both U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan publicly expressed gratitude to the Nigerian government, emphasizing that Gambaryan's release reflects the strong law enforcement cooperation between the U.S. and Nigeria. They highlighted this as a positive outcome, showcasing the partnership between the two countries in addressing shared priorities.
