Veteran Nollywood actress and producer Georgina Ibeh has expressed frustration over the behavior of some upcoming actors in the industry.
In a recent social media post, Ibeh, who has been a fixture in Nollywood for over two decades, called out an unnamed upcoming actress for questioning the cast of a film she was being offered a role in.
Ibeh, who has witnessed the evolution of Nollywood from its early days, highlighted the contrast between her generation and today's newcomers.
She recounted how actors in her time had to earn their roles through auditions, regardless of their fame or stature.
"I've been trying to ignore this for a while now, but it’s getting too much," Ibeh wrote. "How can I call you for a movie, pay you, and you are asking questions like, 'who and who is going to be in the movie'? As an upcoming actress for that matter!"
The producer went on to express her disbelief at the entitlement displayed by some newcomers. "See, let this be the first and last time any of you will ever try that with me! Me and my money?!"
Ibeh’s post struck a chord with many industry veterans, who agreed that the rise of social media and the changing landscape of Nollywood has led to a shift in attitudes among some up-and-coming actors.
