The Police, on Tuesday, arraigned Kabiru Amuda, a 55-year-old herbalist, in an Iyaganku Magistrates Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, over an alleged N2.5 million charm fraud.
Amuda, whose home address was not provided, faced charges of obtaining money under false pretences and stealing. He pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutor Inspector Iyabo Oladoyin informed the court that the defendant committed the offences in June at Ilora, Oyo State.
Oladoyin alleged that Amuda took N2.5 million from Taofeek Ogungbe under the pretext of preparing a traditional charm to enhance Ogungbe's business and personal wealth.
However, Amuda failed to deliver the promised services, violating Sections 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
Magistrate Adebola Adeola granted Amuda bail in the sum of N3 million, with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned until August 20 for hearing.
