Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has appointed his daughter, Helen Eno-Obareki, as the Acting First Lady following the recent passing of his wife. Governor Eno made this announcement during a condolence visit from Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, at Government House in Uyo.Governor Eno shared that this decision was made to ensure that the important duties of the Office of the First Lady, previously overseen by his late wife, continue without interruption. He expressed confidence in Helen’s ability to take on the responsibilities, working closely with the Deputy Governor and the Commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare.“To maintain the Office of the First Lady and carry forward my late wife’s work, I present our daughter, Helen, to continue the duties of the office. She will work closely with the Deputy Governor and the Commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare,” Governor Eno stated.The governor further emphasized his faith in his daughter’s capacity to not only fulfill the role but also to uphold and sustain her mother’s legacies, which have had a significant impact on women’s empowerment and social welfare in the state.
