Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, expressed happiness on Friday, December 20, as his predecessor, Yahaya Bello, was released from Kuje Correctional Facility after meeting his bail conditions.
Bello, who is under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), faces allegations of money laundering, corruption, and a purported N80 billion fraud during his tenure as governor.
Bello’s bail, granted on Thursday, December 19, by Justice MaryAnne Anenih of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja, required a bond of N500 million.
Other conditions included providing three sureties with properties in affluent Abuja areas like Maitama, Guzape, or Asokoro.
Additionally, Bello was ordered to surrender his passport and must seek court approval before leaving Nigeria.
Footage circulating online captures Governor Ododo and supporters jubilantly welcoming Bello home, celebrating his release with enthusiasm.
