Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Nigerian Air Force and the Government of Adamawa State after a tragic auto accident claimed the lives of 19 individuals, including five Air Force personnel.
The devastating incident occurred on Monday night, October 21, in the Hawan Kibo community of Riyom Local Government Area, as the victims were traveling from Adamawa to Abuja.
Reports indicate that the 18-seater bus collided with a stationary trailer undergoing roadside repairs due to brake failure at a checkpoint in the community.
In a statement released on Tuesday by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, Mutfwang described the accident as a profound tragedy and offered his deepest sympathy to the bereaved families, the Governor of Adamawa State, the Chief of the Air Staff, and all those affected by the incident.
He prayed for strength and comfort for the grieving families and urged that such heart-wrenching occurrences be prevented in the future.
Governor Mutfwang also commended the swift and courageous response of the Special Task Force (STF), Federal Road Safety Corps, and local volunteers who worked tirelessly to rescue the passengers, despite the tragic outcome.
