The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) released the list on 26 November 2024, giving defaulters two weeks to settle their outstanding payments for Certificates of Occupancy (C of O).
Aformer Head of State, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB); former Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom; and Senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Tambuwal, have been named among 9,532 alleged land title debtors in Abuja.
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) released the list on 26 November 2024, giving defaulters two weeks to settle their outstanding payments for Certificates of Occupancy (C of O).
The document revealed that Babangida owes N152 million for a plot of land in the highbrow Asokoro district of Abuja.
Ortom was listed with an outstanding debt of N950,000 for land in Bazango, an area on the city’s outskirts, while Tambuwal owes N18 million for a plot in Carraway Dallas, located a few miles from Asokoro.
The FCTA cautioned that failure to meet the payment deadline could lead to the revocation of land titles. Payments are to be made via e-payment to the “FCT Department of Land Administration” account.
Additionally, several federal agencies, including the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), the Nigerian Navy, and the Nigerian Police Force, were listed as debtors.
Other defaulters include the Lagos governor’s lodge in Asokoro, the Kaduna State Government, and the State House Abuja
