Former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has openly criticized President Bola Tinubu for embarking on a two-week vacation to the United Kingdom during a period of economic hardship and insecurity in Nigeria. Lamido expressed his concerns about the timing of the president’s vacation, questioning whether Tinubu has empathy for the struggles of ordinary Nigerians.President Tinubu’s departure for the UK on Wednesday was announced by his Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. According to the statement, the president's trip is part of his annual leave, and he intends to use this period for a "working vacation" to reflect on his administration’s economic reforms."He will return to the country after the leave expires," the official statement said, reassuring Nigerians of the president's continued focus on governance despite his physical absence. However, Lamido was not convinced. In a Facebook post titled "Deaf, Dumb, Confounded," the former governor accused Tinubu of being disconnected from the realities faced by Nigerians. He wrote, “Does President Tinubu have the human empathy, compassion, love, care, and concern to ponder and reflect on Nigerians’ dire situations while in the comfort of Europe?”
