First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged Nigerians to remain patient, emphasizing that the current administration is working hard to secure a prosperous future for the country.
Speaking at the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on Thursday, Mrs. Tinubu said that despite ongoing challenges, there are signs of God's hand at work in Nigeria.
According to the First Lady, her observations during her travels around the country suggest that many people are not seeing the positive developments happening under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.
She reassured Nigerians that the current economic hardship is not the result of her husband’s policies, but rather the consequences of longstanding structural issues that his administration is working to address.
“What is happening in the country, we are just two years into our administration, we are not the cause of the current situation. We are trying to fix and secure the future,” Mrs. Tinubu said in Yoruba. She added that the government's decision to remove fuel subsidies, while difficult, would ultimately position Nigeria for future growth and attract more international investments.
Reflecting on the transformation of Lagos during her husband's tenure as governor, Mrs. Tinubu said that similar development is possible nationwide, urging the youth to take advantage of the opportunities being created by the Federal Government.
“Nigeria will be great and sweet again. When we started in Lagos, many doubted us, they abused us, but see the transformation in Lagos now... Nigeria is a land of prosperity,” she said.
She called on Nigerians to have faith in the administration and assured them that President Tinubu would not disappoint, as the government remains focused on building a nation for future generations.
